Final Stretch!

This month, I succeeded in transforming three strains to express the K2 killer toxin on an extrachromosomal plasmid. I am now conducting one last experiment for the semester, competing these engineered strains with a biofilm-forming strain under different initial strain proportions. I will be photographing and processing colonies over the next few days. I am very excited to see whether my engineered strains can achieve biofilm disruption.

I have also been working on writing my thesis. I am making progress documenting my experimental methods and reviewing existing scientific literature, but I still have a lot to write in a short amount of time. I will be very busy writing for the next few weeks!
